What is Lake Naivasha famous for?
Lake Naivasha is notable for its large population of hippos and flamingos. There are around 1,500 hippos in the vicinity, so you're practically certain to witness one. The lake is a birder's dream, home to over 400 bird species. Lesser and larger flamingos swarm to the lake, creating a vivid pink wash over its surface.
Giraffes, zebras, impalas, and waterbucks may be seen in the nearby neighborhood of Lake Naivasha, including Crescent Island, Crater Lake Game Sanctuary, and Longonot National Park. Lucky travelers may even spot a leopard. You may visit Lake Naivasha at any time of year, although we recommend going during the week if feasible. Lake Naivasha's closeness to Nairobi makes it a popular weekend destination for city inhabitants. If you visit between Monday and Thursday, the stunning scenery will not be interrupted by city dwellers.
