How to get to Narok from Nairobi?
The world-renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve is located in Narok County with Narok town being one of the main gateways to the reserve. Narok is approximately 140-150km west of Nairobi on road and is easily accessible via a number of modes making it possible to suit different budgets and traveling styles.
Travel by road (most common method)
The most practical and common way to reach Narok is by road. The trip usually takes 2.5–3.5 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
Private car or self-drive
There are several roads between Nairobi and the town of Narok, one of which is the A104 road to Mai Mahiu and the other road is the Ngong–Suswa road which may be less congested than the Mai Mahiu road at some times of the day, but may be affected by weather and visibility conditions. The road is overall in good condition, but can be rough in part during the rainy season.
