Kenya ETA for Filipino citizens: Rules, Entry Conditions & Tips
According to Kenya’s entry policy, most nationalities must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before traveling to Kenya. Filipino citizens are included in this requirement, meaning there is no need to visit a Kenyan consulate in person. Instead, travelers can apply online for a Kenya eTA through an authorized application platform.
The Kenyan authorities have recently changed their entry requirements. Previously, travelers were required to apply for a Kenya eVisa before arrival. This has now been replaced by the Kenya eTA, which must be obtained before arrival.
If you’re planning to travel from the Philippines to Kenya, you will be required to obtain a Kenya eTA. The application process for a Kenya eTA is now fully online and more streamlined than before.
To successfully obtain a Kenya eTA, Filipino citizens must meet the Kenya eTA requirements.

1. Understanding the Kenya eTA (previously the eVisa) for Filipino citizens
All Philippine passport holders must apply for a Kenya eTA before traveling to Kenya. A good thing is that you can apply for a Kenya ETA online. The Kenya eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) has replaced the Kenya eVisa effective 1st January 2024.
The Kenyan eTA, or Electronic Travel Authorization, is a digital travel authorization that allows travelers to request entry to Kenya.
Filipino travelers can use the Kenya eTA for tourism, recreation, sightseeing, casual visits to meet friends or relatives, short-duration medical treatment, or casual business visits.
The Kenya eTA allows Filipino travelers to stay in Kenya for up to 90 consecutive days.
You will be required to visit your nearest Kenyan embassy or consulate, such as the Kenya Embassy in the Philippines, if you are visiting Kenya for other reasons, including study or relocation.
2. Kenya eTA (previously the eVisa) requirements for Filipino citizens
The process for applying for a Kenya eTA for Filipino is very simple. There are only a few Kenya eTA requirements that must be met, as outlined below:
- Valid Filipino passport: You will be unable to apply for a Kenyan visa unless you have a passport. Furthermore, Kenya's visa policy requires that the document be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Kenya. The passport must have at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
- A recent passport photo: Scan this before you apply, so you can submit it with your application.
- Digital passport photo: A recent digital passport photo that meets official requirements.
- Flight ticket: In total, 02 types of e-visa have specific requirements about flight tickets: the Transit and East Africa e-visa. For transit e-visa, you will provide your flight plan that points out the exact period of overlaying time in Kenya, which shall not exceed 72 hours. About the East Africa e-visa, you need to make sure your starting entry point is a port of Kenya.
- Email address: This is where your approved eTA will be sent. Once you receive your approved eTA, you can use it immediately or print a copy to keep with you.
- Hotel reservations (if any).

3. How to Apply for a Kenya eTA from the Philippines
The process for Filipino citizens to apply for a Kenya visa waiver is quick and easy. The application can usually be completed within a short time.

- Step 1: Complete the Kenya eTA application form
- Step 2: Pay Kenya eTA fees and submit the request
- Step 3: Download and print out the Kenya eTA

4. Kenya eTA (previously the eVisa) fees for Filipino citizens:

The Kenya visa fee (CURRENTLY ETA) is the same for citizens of all eligible countries. The eTA fee is generally the same for eligible nationalities. It is entirely dependent on the type of eTA you have chosen.
To apply for a Kenya visa for Filipino citizens, you have to pay two (02) kinds of eTA fees, which are called the Service Fee and the Government Fee.
